Paolo Salvatori, born in Rome in 1954, after graduating in Political Science joined the State Administration in the international trade sector. Soon transferring to the national security apparatus, he spent almost three decades countering particularly insidious threats such as the trafficking of sensitive technologies, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and international terrorism.
He was Director of the Counter-Proliferation Division and the Counter-Terrorism Division of the External Intelligence and Security Agency (AISE). On 20 April 2018 he published, with La Lepre Edizioni, the essay "Spies? Intelligence in the international security system", with a preface by Robert Gorelick (former CIA head in Italy) and an afterword by Alberto Manenti (former Director of the AISE).
