Prof. Renato Caputo holds a Master's degree in Law and a Master's degree in Economics (LM-56). He completed a postgraduate course in International Law and Armed Conflict at the University of Trieste, a University Master in Criminology and Forensic Legal Studies with top marks, and the Grado en Derecho and Máster Universitario en Acceso a la Abogacía at the Antonio de Nebrija University in Madrid, passing the professional aptitude test to practise as a lawyer in Spain in 2018. He also earned, with honours, a second-level Master in Senior Management at the University of Bari and, in 2019, an Honorary Doctorate from the Universidad Analítica Constructivista de México.
Professional activity
He is university professor of "International Law and Security Regulations (IUS/13)" in the Master at eCampus University. He is a member of the scientific committee of the journal "Diritto Penale della Globalizzazione" and, since November 2018, Director of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Diplomatic Academy. Admitted to the Madrid Bar, he is Vice President of the Studiorum University Consortium, Vice President of the National Register of Criminologists and a member of the Advisory Board of the European Intelligence Academy in Athens.
From June 2014 to July 2017 he worked, as a State official with diplomatic accreditation, in Uzbekistan. During the 14th legislature he was part of the Cabinet Office of the Minister of Defence. He has been actively involved in post-conflict pacification and reconstruction in Albania, Eritrea, Kosovo and Iraq, including within United Nations missions (UNMIK, UNMEE) and the Multinational Force in Iraq.
Publications and honours
Author and co-author of numerous publications on international relations and international law, including works on the "Golden Power" and the protection of the national interest, and "The Information System for the Security of the Republic and Human Resources Management" (with A. Vitale, 2020). He was awarded the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (2006), the Knighthood of the Equestrian Order of St. Agatha of the Republic of San Marino (2005) and numerous other Italian and foreign honours.
